Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility 2021 which is dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society.

As a photography studio that specialises in helping our clients explore their femininity, we welcome trans women and cis women alike. Likewise, our Facebook group The Vixens of Foxlow is a wonderfully accepting and supportive community for all our clients in the LGBTQ+ community.

We decided that today would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate one of our fabulous transgender clients and ask her what this day and her boudoir experience mean to her.

Like so many of our clients, Joanne came to us to see herself as others do. She didn’t always see the beautiful woman that we see, but now her photos have become a constant reminder of who she is.

Trans Visibility to me is about acceptance. Accepting trans women as women. In fact, not just acceptance of transgender, but acceptance and tolerance of all people no matter what sexual orientation, colour, race or religion.

I decided to book a boudoir photoshoot with Foxlow because I didn't think I looked remotely female. Someone suggested that an experience like this might help me see what other people apparently see… Wow, it worked!

I must admit I was nervous about the whole thing, but the team put me at ease very quickly and it was such a wonderfully uplifting experience. Danielle and Jon and and the makeup artist made me feel like a real woman on the day, in fact it's a 5 star treatment all day.

The whole process was a very empowering experience, and it made me much more positive about transitioning and my self image. I look at my photo book often and my wall mounted frames, they lift me on bad days and remind me of who I am.
