Manpreet Loves Her Body Again After Open Heart Surgery.
An eating disorder, body dysmorphia and health trauma had given Manpreet a very difficult relationship with her body image. Yet with a little courage, she’s rediscovered her spark and learned to love herself.
I suffered from an eating disorder in my 20s which caused me to develop body dysmorphia, and my body changed even more from open heart surgery.
I came across Foxlow photography in 2023 and knew I needed to book a photoshoot once I had recovered from my 2nd open heart surgery! I wanted to honour my scars and all the changes my body has gone through.
I found the process very easy from start to finish. Danielle was very helpful with outfit suggestions and advice before the photoshoot. I felt a little excited and nervous when I arrived, but Danielle and Jon both greeted me in the studio and made me feel very comfortable and at ease.
We went over the lingerie looks, then Danielle did my hair and makeup to match my style. Light and glowy makeup that looked natural. Danielle and Jon took the time to understand my story and go through all the poses with me, which in return made me feel at ease throughout the photoshoot.
I cried happy tears when I saw the photos for the first time. The photos turned out exactly how I wanted, and it honours my health journey. I felt very proud of myself and liberated.
The photoshoot definitely improved my confidence and made me feel feminine and beautiful. It made me love my body again, appreciating all the health trauma it has been through, and helped me regain my spark.
